The Museum of Somerset, located in the 12th-century great hall of Taunton Castle, will be the site of our Away Day this year. Home of the Bloody Assizes, the Castle provides an ideal location to explore this year’s theme of ‘Justice’. (https://swheritage.org.uk/museum-of-somerset/explore/taunton-castle/)

The train station is one mile away from Taunton Castle with a direct link to Paddington Station in London. (Train time from Paddington: 2 hours with 57 trains per day.) Taxis are present at the train station, or the Castle is a 10-minute walk away. The beautiful Castle Hotel is located next door to the venue - The Castle Hotel, Castle Green, Taunton TA1 1NF, 01823 272671. I would suggest booking a room as soon as possible, as they get booked quickly. They have both single and double rooms. Taunton is just a 45-minute train ride or an hour bus ride from the historic cities of Bath, Bristol, and the golden sand beaches of Burnham-On-Sea.
